Redcliffe Bus Depot reinstated

The Public Transport Authority has reinstated its Redcliffe Bus Depot, returning it to full operational use.

The 1.86ha PTA-owned site operated as a bus depot from 1960 to 2008, but was then leased to a transport company.

The bus depot has received a full refurbishment to bring it up to current building code requirements.

Works have included refurbishment of the bus hard stand and staff parking area, refuelling station, wash and maintenance facilities and improved security features including fencing, external lighting and CCTV.

Transperth spokesman David Hynes said the bus depot had space for about 80 buses, and would provide Transperth with a better location to operate some bus services to Optus Stadium on special event days.

“The facility will also be used to accommodate additional buses required for the Forrestfield-Airport Link, once the railway line is operational,” he said.

The bus depot will reopen for operations in March 2019.
