Welshpool company awarded METRONET car park contract

Western Australian company Westforce Construction has been chosen to design and build two new car parks at Meltham and Ashfield stations as part of the Bayswater Station Upgrade.

Under the $1.6 million contract, the Welshpool-based company will extend the existing car park at Meltham by about 120 bays, while a new car park of about 80 bays will be built at Ashfield.

Both car parks will include lighting, CCTV and ease of access to the stations, and a Kiss 'n' Ride facility will be built at Ashfield.

The project is a component of major upgrade works to transform Bayswater Station into a key METRONET precinct that will connect the Midland Line, Forrestfield-Airport Link and Morley-Ellenbrook Line.

The car parks are expected to be open for use in the first half of 2020.
