29/07/2004

Work is continuing on the new Gosnells Station with brickwork for the new train station platforms almost completed and improvements to station parking well under way.

Lakis Constructions, which has been conducting on-site work since the beginning of May and have been contracted to complete the new station, will be installing station roofing over the next month.

Work to improve the car park at the corner of Fremantle Road and Lissiman Street has started and is expected to be completed by late-August. The exisiting car park at the corner of Lissiman and Dorothy Streets will be improved later this year

Car park improvement works include the installation of a shared pathway on the Lissiman Street side of the rail line between Dorothy Street and Fremantle Road, and improved lighting, resurfacing and remarking of parking bays.

The PTA will also be building new station car parks and a new bus facility on the Wheatley Street side of the new station.

Drop-off facilities will be provided on both sides of the new station.

Train services will continue to operate from the existing station until the new Gosnells Station is completed early next year.
