Bassendean Station - temporary station platform, car park and closure of level pedestrian crossing

29 June 2003

Although it was previously advised that public access to the existing station platform and part of the car park at the Midland end of the station precinct would be restricted from tomorrow, Wednesday 30 July 2003, public access will now be available until Wednesday 6 August 2003.

Access to train services from this date will be via a temporary platform at the Midland end of the existing platform. This can be accessed from either the overpass or the underpass at the Midland end of the platform.

The part of the car park at the Midland end of the station precinct will remain closed to form part of the site storage compound until it is developed, during the final stage of the project, to form drop-off facilities and the new bus station.

Parking will be available at the recently created station car park.

The level pedestrian crossing from the north side of the rail lines that provides access to the Perth end of the existing platform will also be closed as of Wednesday 6 August 2003.

This access will remain closed to establish a single point of entry for the station which will improve security and complement the future introduction of a new ticketing system with fare gates.
