Avoid the traffic scrum - take Transperth to the rugby

Don’t get stuck tackling traffic or fighting for a parking spot. Let Transperth give you the advantage at tomorrow’s (August 17) 2024 Rugby Championship game between Australia and South Africa at Optus Stadium.

Public transport is the easiest way to get to and from the game, with special-event trains and buses stopping at the stadium.

To get fans there, direct trains will leave Perth Station frequently from 2.41pm, while regular Armadale Line trains from Perth will stop at Stadium Station all day (terminating at Victoria Park Station due to the Armadale Line shutdown).

In addition, special event services will run on the Fremantle and Yanchep lines before and after the game, while special-event buses will operate for approximately two and a half hours before the game and 45 minutes after the final whistle.

Passengers catching the 652 (to Mirrabooka Bus Station) and 653 (Morley Bus Station) buses after the game will need to go to the stands on the city side of the Matagarup Bridge.

Transperth spokesman David Hynes said it should be an easy decision to swap the car for a train or bus, with public transport included in all tickets for three hours either side of the game.

“Green plays a heavy role in both the Australian and South African sporting colours, but whether you support the Wallabies or the Springboks, Transperth green is an easy and free way to get to and from the game,” he said.

“Big crowds are expected, most of whom will be travelling with Transperth, so attendees are encouraged to plan their journey to avoid missing any of the action.”
