Upgrade works will be undertaken on Newcastle Street to modify the road layout at the intersections of Beaufort Street and Willam Street. This will enable buses to turn left from Newcastle Street while using only one lane. The current layout means that for a bus to turn left they need to use both lanes.
What work is involved?
These works include:
- The removal of islands near the intersections to provide more space for turning.
- The relocation of some light poles.
- The modification of the road layout to meet increased demand in traffic.
Works will be undertaken at the following locations:
- The corner of Newcastle and William Street.
- The corner of Newcastle and Beaufort Street.
When are works happening?
- Works will occur between 8pm and 4am from Monday 12 January until Monday 16 February.
- Works will only be conducted on weeknights; no works are scheduled for weekends during this period.
