Transwa is looking for on train customer service staff  to help deliver safe, welcoming and reliable rail services across regional Western Australia.
These roles play a vital part in ensuring our passengers have a positive experience on Transwa’s Australind, Prospector, AvonLink and MerredinLink services, while supporting safety, comfort and onboard operations.

Passenger assistant

Passenger assistants are the friendly and reassuring presence onboard Transwa services. You’ll work closely with the senior passenger assistant to ensure every passenger experiences a safe, comfortable and well‑organised journey.

This is a hands‑on role that combines customer service, hospitality and safety support in a unique rail environment.


What you'll do

  • Provide high quality customer service and assistance throughout the journey 
  • Assist passengers with boarding and general enquiries 
  • Support our passengers including seniors, people living with disability and families 
  • Make public address announcements as required 
  • Operate buffet and refreshment services, including cash handling 
  • Maintain cleanliness of onboard facilities and report defects •Assist with emergency and service disruption procedures.


What we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Experience in a customer service or hospitality environment 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Basic numerical and cash handling capability 
  • A flexible approach to rotational shift work, including nights, weekends and public holidays 
  • A current Western Australian C or C A Class Driver’s Licence (or equivalent)

Senior passenger assistant

Senior passenger assistants take a leadership role onboard, overseeing service delivery and supporting the safe operation of Transwa rail services. You’ll supervise passenger assistants, liaise with train drivers and take charge during operational or emergency situations.
This role is ideal for experienced customer service professionals ready to step into a supervisory position in a transport environment.


What you'll do

  • Lead and coordinate passenger service delivery onboard 
  • Supervise and support passenger assistants during services 
  • Sell and distribute tickets to passengers when required 
  • Monitor safety standards and onboard conditions 
  • Liaise with train drivers regarding train operations 
  • Implement emergency and safeworking procedures when required 
  • Complete operational and compliance documentation.



What we're looking for

You'll bring:

  • Strong leadership and relationship management skills 
  • Experience in customer service, hospitality or transport environments 
  • Confidence in managing complaints and resolving issues 
  • Sound organisational and planning skills 
  • Ability to make decisions in dynamic, operational situations 
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
