New car parking bays open at Mandurah Train Station

Transport Minister Simon O’Brien said new parking bays at Mandurah Train Station were the result of the State Government fulfilling an election promise.

Mr O’Brien and Dawesville MLA Kim Hames have welcomed the addition of 270 new parking bays at the busy station.

“In the lead-up to the last election I pledged that, if elected, the Liberal-National Government would ensure more parking bays were built at Perth’s suburban train stations,” Mr O’Brien said.

“This is being achieved and today’s announcement is part of the State Government’s pledge to build 3,000 new parking bays at stations along the Mandurah and Joondalup lines at a cost of $49.5million. 

“The Government, with the help of local Members of Parliament like Kim Hames, is delivering on that pledge - with an extra 270 new bays successfully built at Mandurah, increasing the station’s car parking capacity to 1,150 vehicles.”

Dr Hames welcomed the new bays and said the enhanced parking facilities would greatly assist those who currently battled daily for the existing number of parking spots.

“I am acutely aware of the pressures currently placed on the station’s parking infrastructure,” Dr Hames said.

“That is why I have been working with the Minister to ensure stations in the region I represent get their fair share of new parking bays.”
