Work to upgrade Oats Street Station's bus interchange was completed in August 2020. With the existing bus facilities at capacity, the project involved extending the interchange north to increase the number of bus stands and layover bays. The upgrade will allow the interchange to accommodate more services including a new bus route between Perth Airport Terminal 1 and Oats Street Station that was introduced following the opening of the Airport Line. The extension will also allow the interchange to accommodate articulated buses when necessary.
The project included:
- Increasing the number of bus stands from two to four;
- Creating three new bus layover bays;
- Reconfiguring surrounding pedestrian paths and access.
Construction took place between April and August 2020.
Oats Street Station will be relocated over Oats Street and rebuilt as an elevated station as part of METRONET’s Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal project.
