Mute and Bright

Stuart Green and Rob Muir (sound artist) in collaboration with Dave Primmer

Title: Mute and Bright

Artist/s: Stuart Green and Rob Muir (sound artist) in collaboration with Dave Primmer

Year: 2008

Category: Sculpture

Site: Victoria Park Station

Location Details: Victoria Park Station Platform

Description:

The work consists of two major objects, a large self-patinating steel speaker-bell and a smaller, similarly-shaped speaker in stainless steel. The two objects are linked by an interactive audio program developed by visually-impaired sound artist Rob Muir, referencing the important link the station has with patrons of the nearby Association for the Blind.

Artist/s Statement:

The artworks offer a visual solidity while producing timed and interactive sampling and replaying of altered sounds. They create an ever-changing soundscape that can be both heard and felt.

The PTA acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises  the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.
