Free ANZAC Day travel for veterans and serving personnel

Transperth is recognising the sacrifices made by the men and women of our armed forces by providing them with free travel all day on ANZAC Day (Friday, 25 April).

Transperth is recognising the sacrifices made by the men and women of our armed forces by providing them with free travel all day on ANZAC Day (Friday, 25 April).

Normal fares apply for people not wearing a service uniform or insignia. Seniors, aged and disability support pensioners can use their SmartRider to access free travel (as is always the case off-peak on weekdays and all day on weekends and public holidays).

Bus and train services will operate - including early morning services - to get people to and from the dawn service in Kings Park.

“All serving and returned service personnel wearing their uniforms, campaign ribbons or medals can travel free on all Transperth bus, train and ferry services throughout the day,” a Transperth spokesperson said.

“As is usual for the Kings Park service, organisers are preparing for a crowd of thousands to pay their respects to all those who served.

“We expect many of them will use public transport to get to the event and buses will be especially busy, so we recommend planning your journey and leaving plenty of time to arrive for the start of the service.”

Kings Park Dawn Service

Midland Line: leaving Midland Station at 4.19am, and 4.34am.

Airport Line: leaving High Wycombe Station at 4.28am and 4.43am.

Armadale Line: leaving Victoria Park Station at 4.35am and 4.50am.

Buses

Route 619 to Kings Park will leave Perth Busport regularly from 4.25am. The last service will depart at 5.25am. Buses will return to Perth Busport after the service until 9am.

The Armadale/Thornlie Line is closed between Victoria Park and Armadale/Thornlie, but buses (Route 907) leave Armadale Station at 3.21am, 3.36am, and 3.51am. The bus will then continue to Kings Park as Route 619.

All other buses will run to the standard Sunday public holiday timetable with some deviations in place due to CBD road closures associated with the ANZAC Day March.

While buses are accessible for people with mobility issues, some of the locations within Kings Park are not access-friendly. Refer to the RSL website for detailed information.

Kings Park internal shuttle

Route 621 will operate between the Vietnam War Memorial and the State War Memorial between 4.25am and 9.30am (but will not operate during the dawn service).

Fremantle Memorial Dawn Service

Trains to Fremantle will leave Perth Station (Platform 7) at 3.47am, 4.02am and 4.50am.
