Expressions of Interest open for ferry design

An Expression of Interest (EOI) process will begin tomorrow, with industry being invited to put forward designs, as a business case is prepared for expanded services.

The EOI provides a number of parameters for the design of the new ferry fleet including:

  • vessels up to 25 metres in length;
  • a minimum of 130 seats, including 40-50 external seats;
  • passenger toilet facilities;
  • bike storage; and
  • options for electric powered vessels.

There are currently three Transperth ferries that operate between Elizabeth Quay and Mends Street Jetty in South Perth, every 15 minutes during peak hours.

The EOI for ferry design will be available from the Tenders WA website from 25 August closing 25 November 2024 (www.tenders.wa.gov.au)
