In 2014-15 the Public Transport Authority (PTA) initiated the Bike Shelter Upgrade Program to meet the growing demand for bike parking facilities at our train stations. The program included building new shelters, extending existing shelters, and upgrades to install high-density bike racks, allowing more bikes to safely fit into each shelter.
Over the last five years, the PTA has completed five stages of the program, adding more than 1520 secure bike spaces to the network. The total number of bike parking spaces available is now more than 3600, with 70 per cent of these spaces contained within secure Lock ‘n’ Ride bike shelters.
Free access to Lock ‘n’ Ride bike shelters requires a SmartRider card which has been registered for a designated shelter. To register your bike, visit the Transperth website.
Remember, a good bike lock (such as a D Lock) is essential to deter thieves, even when using the bike shelters.
