The PTA has an extensive collection of public art which has developed and expanded with the network, from electrification of the trains in the early 1990s to the METRONET program in recent years.

Description:

A diverse collection of murals run throughout the underpass and on all the pedestrian ramps leading into the station. The works were done in conjunction with Shenton College, the City of Subiaco and the Office of Crime Prevention.

Artist/s Statement:

This extensive mural depicts a range of subjects, primarily trains - Western Australian trains of course, from steam powered locomotives to electrified passenger cars in the underground tunnels. It’s the perfect station to dismount mid journey for a ten minute viewing before hopping back on the next train. Other images to look for include a giant Rubix Cube, a zebra playing pool and a rainbow serpent twisting around its urban environment.
