Armadale track works contract awarded

Armadale's new railway station is making progress with the awarding of a contract to carry out associated works.

Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan has congratulated Consolidated Constructions Pty Ltd's on winning the $2.3million contract.

"The track work is an important part of the overall project and this is a significant step in delivering Armadale an improved transport precinct," Ms MacTiernan said.

The total Armadale project will include relocating the main entry to the new station, and creating a public square in front of the station.

The station building contract will be awarded shortly.

"Planning for the station redevelopment has been carried out by the Public Transport Authority in conjunction with the Armadale Redevelopment Authority," Ms MacTiernan said.

"The finished project will help bring more life and activity into the Jull Street Mall."

The new station, part of the State Government's Building Better Stations program will offer improved access to train services, parking, cycling and drop-off facilities.

The track work is expected to start early next month (September), with the station due for completion early next year.
