New free CAT service
The Surf CAT will be a daily service, running from Stirling Station along Ellen Stirling Boulevard and Scarborough Beach Road direct to Scarborough Beach.
The free service will run up to every 10 minutes during peak periods, from early in the morning to late at night, seven days a week.
The new service will commence on Sunday 30 November 2025.
New bus embayments and intersection improvements
In order to accommodate the new service, two new bus embayments will be installed on West Coast Highway, north of Scarborough Beach Road.
There will also be changes to the West Coast Highway and Scarborough Beach Road intersection to improve accessibility and reduce congestion, including the addition of dedicated bus lanes to prioritise bus movements.
These intersection upgrades include:
- Alternating pedestrian phases and the installation of pedestrian countdown timers.
- New east and westbound bus lanes on Scarborough Beach Road.
- Private vehicles directed straight when travelling eastbound on Scarborough Beach Road.
Transperth is working closely with Main Roads and the City of Stirling on the design of the bus lanes and other proposed changes.
Route 410 and 412 extension
The existing Route 410 and 412 bus service is proposed to be extended to Karrinyup Bus Station and significantly improve access between Scarborough and Karrinyup.
