Work to construct an additional eastbound bus priority lane across the Causeway roundabout in East Perth is now complete.
The new 105m bus lane will help to reduce delays experienced by Transperth bus services travelling east between Plain Street and Victoria Park Transfer Station.
Previously, buses servicing stops 1038 and 1039 on Adelaide Terrace had to merge into the existing single bus lane immediately after leaving the stops to enter the Causeway roundabout. The timing of signals at this intersection also restricted the number of buses that could enter the roundabout per green light phase, and buses regularly had to wait through two green light phases before having a chance to enter the roundabout. The new bus lane will allow buses to merge smoothly, reducing the likelihood of them having to wait for a second green light before departing.
Construction of the new bus lane took place between October and December 2019.
