Untitled - Mandurah Station Multi Storey Carpark

Ian Mutch and Corey Ugle

Title: Untitled - Mandurah Station Multi Storey Car Park

Artist/s: Ian Mutch and Corey Ugle

Year: Unknown

Category: Urban Art Mural

Site: Mandurah Station

Location Details: Mandurah Station Car Park

Description:

The artwork is inspired by the natural beauty of Mandurah’s landscape and is the collaboration between artist Ian Mutch and emerging Bindjareb Noongar artist Corey Ugle, who were engaged to capture the local identity of Mandurah. The artwork was inspired by the natural beauty of Mandurah’s landscape, exploring the abstraction and interpretation of pathways and movement and the flow from one water body to another depicting waterways, local landscape and native species.

Working in close collaboration, Ian and Corey discussed design concepts, with Corey providing insight into local native species and hand sketching these in lines and patterns. Ian created digital drawings from the sketches and transformed them into detailed metal fabricated shapes for the exterior walls of the car park. Illustrations of native flora are also incorporated as wayfinding signage in the car park’s interior.
