New Transwa ticketing office opens in Geraldton

Good, old-fashioned customer service is back on the agenda with the opening of a new Transwa ticketing office in the heart of Geraldton.

The office, in the Geraldton train station on Chapman Road will be open from 8am to noon and 1230pm to 4pm Monday to Thursday, and will open until 430pm on Fridays.

On Saturdays it will be open from 8am to 11am.

Passengers will still be able to purchase tickets online on the easy to use Transwa journey planner at www.transwa.wa.gov.au/.

Two new Transwa staff members have already started work at the office.

Transwa General Manager Tim Woolerson said the Public Transport Authority took the strategic position of opening the Transwa booking office after the privately-operated agency (Batavia Tickets) closed its doors in early March.

He said the premises had received a face-lift courtesy of local businesses and was in the ideal location for the coach service terminal.

“This ticketing office is about a bit of good, old-fashioned customer service and we welcome feedback from the public to ensure we meet their expectations,” he said.

“We know that there are a lot of people who like to come in and buy their tickets, and get advice from our staff, and this office gives them that opportunity.

“We expect the new office to sell about 1000 tickets a month, with on-line and phone sales on top of that.”
