Hills that Walk

Alexander Knox & Eliza Hutchinson

Title: Hills that Walk

Artist/s: Alexander Knox and Eliza Hutchinson

Year: 2025

Category:  Integrated Artwork

Site: Ranford Road Station

Location Details: Artistic treatment applied to fencing surrounding communications/electrical compound to east of station entry.

Artist/s Statement:

The emu has walked across this land for thousands of years.  This artwork depicts the emu's walking cycle by layering images to create a sense of movement on printed and perforated aluminium panels.  The shape of the emu's back forms a rippled line, reflecting the curves of the landscape.  On the lower panels, you can see patterns that represent the temporary tracks left behind by emus and other animals as they move through the land.
