Description:

A series of metal bands are fixed to the walls adjacent to each of the escalators in the station foyer

Artist/s Statement:

The industrial landscape of Kwinana offered a rich potential for these artworks. It is large, over-scale, sculpted, solid, bulky and intense. It contains open framework and steel towers. The industrial landscapes system of structure offers endless variation. Even on weekends, when production is limited, their forms imply manufacture and raw energy. The work is based on drawing the industrial landscape, in particular outlines of the built form or machinery. These drawings have been abstracted and reduced again and again to create a line of energy.
