Buses to enter freeway north at Judd Street

July 23, 2004

New traffic management arrangements for buses traveling north on the Kwinana Freeway come into force this weekend.

From the start of services on Sunday (July 25), buses will exit the busway (in the freeway median) near Judd Street, South Perth, and enter normal freeway traffic.  At the point where the buses enter the freeway, the right-hand lane will be a dedicated busway (indicated with yellow line markings) for approximately a kilometre.

To offset this, an extra northbound lane has been added for the length of the new bus lane.

The buses will merge and cross the normal freeway traffic to get into the Mounts Bay Road exit lanes from the Narrows Bridge.  They follow Mounts Bay Road around and enter the Busport at the Mill Street intersection.

The changes are required because of construction work being undertaken by New MetroRail – including the removal of the William Street traffic bridge – for the Southern Suburbs Railway.

Further information about the effect on bus services is available from the Transperth InfoLine on 136213.  For enquiries on the Southern Suburbs Railway call the New MetroRail InfoLine on 1800 110 075.
