Work to upgrade Cookernup Station on Transwa’s Australind route is now complete. The upgrade saw the replacement of the existing low-level platform with a raised platform fully compliant with Disability and Discrimination Act (DDA) standards.
The project included:
- A new raised platform which is sheltered, accessible via ramp or stairs, and has seating for three people;
- New bitumen car parking, including one accessible bay, two standard bays, a turning area, and associated kerbing and line-marking;
- New lighting, signage and fencing.
The upgraded station will improve the experience of Transwa passengers travelling to or from Cookernup on the Australind service, which operates twice daily between Bunbury and Perth.
Work began in September 2019 with the new station officially opened on January 23, 2020 by the Hon Mark McGowan MLA, Premier of Western Australia, and Hon Rita Saffioti MLA, Minister for Transport.
