Work is now completed on the $45 million Kwinana Freeway widening and Russell Road Bridge duplication. Traffic modelling found the Russell Road bridge would need to be widened with the number of lanes doubled to cater for future demand. The works involved duplicating the bridge over the Kwinana Freeway to become eight lanes of traffic. The four lanes in both directions are configured with two dedicated turning lanes onto the Kwinana Freeway and two through-lanes.
The City of Cockburn is in the final stages of planning to modify the intersection of Gibbs Road and Lyon Road and changing the intersection from an existing single lane roundabout to a traffic signalised intersection. Please visit City of Cockburn website for more information.
