Michael Barker

Title: Underpass

Artist/s: Michael Barker

Year: 2011

Category: Urban Art Mural

Site: McIver Station

Location Details: McIver Station underpass

Description:

In 2011 McIver Station’s underpass was transformed with inspiration taken from local landmarks and Dutch artist, M. C. Escher. Several themes are brought together into one mural which flows through the station from the platform to the underground walkways. The animals featured are local to the area, such as the Mulloway fish from the nearby Swan River which transition into black swans flying up staircase. Tessellations of blue tongue lizards can be found below the rocks on the curved walkways.
