Take a break from driving - take Transperth to the footy

In what could be either a happy coincidence or fiendishly-clever planning, Transperth is launching its upgraded 2019 special-events services on the same weekend that the new football season starts.

The train and upgraded bus services swing into action for the Dockers v North Melbourne game at Optus Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Some special-event services to the stadium change with the introduction of Route 655 (from Kalamunda via Forrestfield), the relocation of the CBD shuttle to Perth Stadium Bus Station, and the opening of Curtin Central Bus Station.

Route 655 Kalamunda Bus Station via Forrestfield
New Route 655 will run from Kalamunda Bus Station via Forrestfield and Belmont Forum. It will service the suburbs of Belmont, Rivervale, Forrestfield and Kalamunda. After the event, it will leave from stadium stands 7 and 8. See a map of Route 655.

Route 657 Curtin Central Bus Station
Route 657 will make an additional stop at the new Curtin Central Bus Station. See a map of Route 657.

Route 661
The CBD shuttle will now operate via St Georges/Adelaide Terrace to the stadium bus station instead of the Matagarup Bridge bus stands. Route 661 will no longer run as a circular route along Wellington and Milligan streets or terminate at Matagarup Bridge. See a map of Route 661.

Perth Stadium Bus Station
There will be changes to some stadium departure stands after the event:
• Route 650 to Karrinyup Bus Station will now leave from stands 18 – 20 only
• Route 655 to Kalamunda Bus Station will leave from stands 7 and 8
• Route 661 to Perth CBD will now leave from stands 21 and 22.

Start times for these services will change according to game times so it’s best to check the Transperth website before the start of every game.

Trains

Stadium shuttles will operate before and after the game. Check the Transperth website for specific times.

Buses

Special event buses run about every 5-10 minutes, scheduled to start arriving at the Stadium up to two hours before bounce-down and running for one hour after the match finishes on nine suburban routes (from Karrinyup, Mirrabooka, Morley, Ellenbrook, Kalamunda, Canning Vale, Curtin, Hamilton Hill and Fremantle).

Service disruptions

Some services will be affected on AFL game days including closure of the Moore Street level crossing, and McIver and Claisebrook stations. For specific times check the Transperth website.
