Fremantle trains disrupted this weekend

Train services on the Fremantle Line will be disrupted over the long weekend.

Train services on the Fremantle Line will be disrupted over the long weekend.

The Stirling Road railway bridge in Claremont is being replaced, requiring a part-closure of the line from tomorrow (Friday June 3) evening to Tuesday morning.  Replacement buses will be running.

The last full-line services will be:

  • to Fremantle – leaving Perth at 7pm
  • to Perth – leaving Fremantle at 7.45pm.

After this, replacement bus service 906 will operate between Showgrounds and Fremantle, picking up and dropping off at train replacement stops near stations.

Normal timetabled trains resume from the first service on Tuesday June 7.

The bridge is more than 70 years old.  Similar bridge work was carried out on the Shenton Road bridge over the Easter long weekend.

The work is scheduled to start at 8pm tomorrow and finish by 6pm on Wednesday June 8.  The road beneath the bridge will be closed during this time.  Traffic management and detour signage is being installed for motorists and pedestrians.

The work involves slicing off the top half of the old bridge and replacing it.  Crews will work 24/7 to complete the job in the scheduled time.
