From the Director General

The Transport portfolio reached a significant milestone on May 3, 2011, marking 12 months since I took responsibility for the State’s three transport agencies - the Department of Transport (DoT), the Public Transport Authority (PTA) and Main Roads WA (MRWA).

In the past year, I’ve taken a more holistic view of the key role that transport plays in our State’s continued economic growth, and especially of the considerable benefits offered by a cohesive, integrated approach to the planning, investment and operation of WA’s transport system.

The Minister for Transport and I are setting clear priorities and investing in our transport system, while planning for the next generation of transport users.

In a year of changing priorities, the Transport portfolio has overcome challenges and accomplish significant goals, while demonstrating an integrated model that acts as a benchmark for other Government agencies. The formal appointment of Mark Burgess as the Managing Director of the PTA further strengthens the position of PTA as a leader in public transport delivery and management.

As Director General - Transport, it is a privilege to lead such a strong team and I would like to commend the many individuals and teams in the PTA for their efforts in 2010-11. I look forward to working with you all in the years ahead to achieve all that we have planned.
