The Great Wall of Bayswater

Friday, 24 August 2018

The Forrestfield Airport Link (FAL) project and the Right Track program have joined forces to add a splash of colour to a 500m retaining wall in Bayswater.

Local urban artist, Drew Straker, has been commissioned to design and install artwork on the wall, which was built as part of the FAL project works at Bayswater Junction. Through the Right Track program young people from youth organisations and schools around Perth will get to participate in a series of workshops with Drew to help complete the artwork.

Youth Organisations such as Midland PCYC and SMYL Community College have been involved painting what will be a continuous mural representing the six Noongar seasons: Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba, and Kambarang.   The project is the largest urban art project run by Right Track to date and has given young people a chance to learn new skills and contribute to their community in a positive way.

This epic mural will be completed by the end of August and be the largest comissioned mural in Australia.
